
Hello, welcome to Stimulus Pauze.
This site was created by me (Ineke) as a kind of summary of the road I took myself to help my nervous system recover.
My nervous system had become completely dysregulated after going through a severe infection.
I learned that your nervous system can be dysregulated not only with psychological trauma (PTSS), stress or burnout but certainly also with physical conditions such as bacterial or viral infections, MCAS, Fibromyalgia etc.
In addition, I learned that our nervous system works closely together with our immune system. It is clear to me that in order to have a healthy body you need a balanced nervous system!
From my profession, I am a psychologist, I worked for years with trauma therapy. After my own experience with illness, I noticed that (emdr) therapy alone, was not enough for me to heal my nervous system.
I started diving into scientific research and testing different ways to favorably influence my nervous system.
In addition, I had several diagnostic tests taken to gain insight into my genetics (DNA) and stresshormone values such as cortisol. I enjoyed getting concrete insight.
With these insights and knowledge, I started testing out different products and ways to de-stimulate.
That's how I came into contact with breath training. I studied the Wim Hof Method, Buteyko and Epiphora methode . I also practiced breathing with the help of the breath coach Moonbird discovered.
I have tried different acupressure mats tested it and noticed that it provided a very pleasant physical relaxation after only a few minutes! At one point I even fell asleep on my acupressure mat haha.
I also started looking into training my Vagus Nerve in different ways.

I experience more calmness, no more being in alert mode all the time and more space to choose how I react instead of immediately shooting into action mode and being reactive.
I can say that this has been a very intensive and lengthy search and that is why I got the idea to summarize all my experiences and bundle them in one place so that if you are also searching, you have less work to do. It can be quite a puzzle and if you are not comfortable in your own skin, it is extra difficult.
